The Jazz in Schools Project
The Jazz Association of Greater San Diego (JAG) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation devoted to the preservation, dissemination, and enjoyment of jazz music throughout the greater San Diego area. A major component of JAG's mission is outreach to young people through an ongoing series of school music assemblies. Jazz is America's original art form, and JAG recognizes the importance of introducing children to jazz in order that it remains a part of our culture in the future.
Given the slashing of education funding for the arts, kids today have limited exposure to jazz. The Jazz Association of Greater San Diego has developed a one hour Jazz-in-Schools program which encompasses a two-part performance and instructional format that we present to San Diego elementary and middle schools. Since our inception a decade ago, JAG has presented programs to nearly 20,000 San Diego school students; for some of them it was an opportunity to hear jazz for the very first time.
When you renew your membership or make a cash contribution to JAG, you help us bring jazz to San Diego's young people, and you thus help keep jazz alive.
The application for membership renewals may be printed from the "Join Us" page, or you may make your tax deductible contribution by sending your check (made payable to The Jazz Association of Greater San Diego) to: JAG SAN DIEGO P.O. Box 287 Cardiff, CA 92007
